Some people really struggle with drinking enough water, and part of the problem is a lack of flavor. So use these recipes to increase your water intake!
Water, as we all know, is critical to our daily living. It regulates blood, keeps your organs functioning, hydrates your cells and skin, and of course keeps you alive by providing more oxygen. Drinking a minimum amount of water (I’d recommend 3 liters/day for an adult) is essential. If you are physically active, your water intake level goes up simultaneously.
As important as it is to consume water for our better health, the lack of taste in water can make its consumption boring. This leads to us not drinking enough or replacing water with aerated drinks loaded with white sugar and artificial color. To help you avoid the bad stuff, here are some water recipes that will make you want to drink more of it!
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 liter water
- 1 to 2 lemon slices (optional)
You can use this recipe on a daily basis or on a hot summer day. Lemon juice alkalizes your body, and the little sweetness added can boost your energy level. The soaked lemons add a unique flavor to the water, making it refreshing and sweet.
- 5 to 6 mint leaves
- 3 to 4 cucumber slices
- 1 liter water
Mint + cucumber is a powerful combination. Mint leaves are known for their cooling effect and for improving digestion. Cucumber is a well-known green for its cooling effect, vitamin C, vitamin A, and essential minerals, making this water nutrient rich, flavorful, and the real “Vitamin Water.”
- 1 cup dried hibiscus petals
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 1 to 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 to 2 liters water
Hibiscus is a healing flower known for its abundant antioxidant and anti-depressant properties. It makes this recipe a powerful one along with anti-inflammatory cloves and nourishing, energizing honey .This drink is healing, hydrating, and delicious.
- 4 to 5 strawberries, sliced
- 3 to 4 basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon stevia or sweetener of your choice
- 1 liter water
A drink rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, iron, and an abundance of vitamins and minerals along with its basil aroma and berry taste makes this an all year round favorite.
- 2 cups coconut water
- 1 cinnamon bark
- 1 to 2 tablespoons palm sugar (optional)
Coconut water and cinnamon is an electrolyte rich drink. It’s packed with potassium and anti-bacterial and anti-fungal benefits, and keeps you hydrated and refreshed.
Water can be infused with any fruit or herb of your choice. Have fun with it!
