Woman smiling in sunshine

The body, mind and spirit may appear to be separate but they are tightly connected and actually rely on one another heavily. You only need to look at the power that stress has on your mental health and physical body to see how strong the interconnections between the three are.

Maybe you’ve experienced this phenomenon before. Have you ever had a nagging health condition that you tried to solve by diet alone? For example, maybe you’ve experienced gut health issues perhaps in the past. And then even though you cut out the foods that supposedly weren’t good for you and you increase the foods that are good for you, you still experienced your symptoms.

Ultimate health takes a holistic approach. You can’t just improve one piece to live your healthiest and most vibrant life. You have to look at your health as a combination of when your body, mind, and spirit are in balance and alignment.

Although there are different elements at play in the mind, body and spirit like proper nutrition for your body and epigenetics in your mind, these things all play a role in your overall health. Despite working in varying ways, they connect intimately and affect you massively.

The Body, Mind & Spirit

When it comes to the body, mind and spirit, each term works both individually and together. The body is the physical structure that everyone has. It holds the brain, muscles, organs, fat and packed with trillions of cells. Whereas the mind is what governs thoughts, emotion and the mental aspects of life. The mind gives you the power to be aware of the world and think and feel.

The final piece of the puzzle is the spirit. The spirit can be viewed in a religious context, but it can also be looked at as the energy that runs through your mind and body. No matter how you view your spirit, it’s important to nourish it the same way you would your body and mind. By understanding the role kinesiology, epigenetics and law of attraction play in your overall health, you can feed your body, mind, and spirit with the right fuel to thrive.

Imbalances in the Body and Applied Kinesiology

Kinesiology refers to the study of movement whereas applied kinesiology or muscle testing, is a holistic alternative medicine practice. Applied kinesiology looks at the relationship between muscle strength and health. It’s based on the idea that imbalances in the body where energy is being blocked or stressed can relate to poor health in the body. By identifying these areas through certain techniques and muscle testing, you can treat these areas in the body that are being blocked.

Kinesiology looks to move pass your subconscious mind and go straight to your body to check where energy is being blocked which could potentially lead to health issues. Imbalances in your body can disrupt the flow of energy. When you’re unbalanced, your health can be affected. This holistic practice is all about providing a non-invasive way to balance out the body and restore your natural energy flow.

If you don’t think you’ve ever experienced applied Kinesiology before, you may have at the chiropractor’s office. Applied Kinesiology is often used by chiropractors to test muscles and discover what parts of the body are out of alignment and may be causing your pain, so they can go straight to the source of your pain and adjust the joint.

What is Kinesiology?

Healthy Eating and Proper Nutrition

Of course, you can’t talk about the body without touching on nutrition and diet. What you choose to feed your body is crucial to your overall health. Combined with regular exercise, good nutrition is part of a healthy lifestyle. While some foods help your body to thrive, others can have the complete opposite effect.

Unhealthy eating habits have contributed to an obesity epidemic in the United States with over a third of U.S adults considered obese. This translates to roughly 93.3 million people. The link between healthy eating, good weight and reduced risk of chronic disease is too important to ignore. By making good food choices, you’ll be taking the steps to get the right nutrients your body needs to stay strong, healthy and active.

When it comes to your diet, different foods and nutrients have varied benefits and effects on your body. If you’re looking to up your intake of certain nutrients, supplements can be a great place to start but, remember that they are not all made equal.

Collagen, for example, can be fantastic for anti-aging, hydrate your skin and keep the skin looking smooth and wrinkle-free. However, a lot of collagen products are derived from animals using connective tissues and bones from cattle, fish, and pigs.

Sunwarrior’s plant-based collagen is tailored to boost your body’s collagen production, improving your health from the inside-out. The collagen is derived from sprouted and fermented brown rice and includes organic pea protein, vitamin C, biotin, Hyaluronic Acid, trace minerals and more.

Magnesium is another crucial nutrient that can have a massive impact on your sleep, heart and brain health, and soothe your muscles. You naturally lose magnesium every day through movements and hormone production. Although there are several natural food sources of magnesium, it can be difficult to know that you are getting enough which is where a magnesium supplement comes in.

Magnesium deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies. It’s estimated that up to 75% of Americans are deficient in magnesium. Symptoms can include brain fog, trouble sleeping, muscle cramps, and headaches. Sunwarrior’s liquid magnesium is fast-absorbing and quick-acting. The trace mineral solution boosts your natural impulses to restore and re-balance your body’s magnesium levels.

Your Health and The Role of Epigenetics

Epigenetics as a Science Study Field of Genetics

When it comes to the mind, it’s important to understand epigenetics and the role it plays in your thoughts, behavior, and health. The mind is truly powerful and the emerging field of epigenetics helps you to further understand how physical and mental health problems occur at a cellular level. Epigenetics understands that you are an extension of your environment and the reason behind many problems is because of what is stored inside you on a cellular level.

What Is Epigenetics: Your Mind’s Influence Over Your Health

Every day, your cells are constantly changing and absorbing different information that is based on your perception of your environment and experiences. The information that is absorbed is very important as if you’re taking in the wrong information then your cells are storing incorrect information. This is where a negative mindset and emotions may affect your health later in life. Experts believe that ongoing struggles are a manifestation of what’s been stored in your cells.

That isn’t to say that once you think in a certain way, that you’re destined for one path. You can actually rewire your implicit memory so that you can nourish better behaviors and habits resulting in a happier life. Your unconscious memory patterns relating to yourself and others make up your implicit memory. It’s those thoughts and actions that you don’t need to reach into your conscious brain for, you just do them automatically. Although it takes time, you can rewire your implicit memory and override old, negative thinking.

You may even find that over time as you actively work to rewire your implicit memory that things you previously didn’t find enjoyment in now are some of your favorite things to do.

For instance, have you ever wanted to wake up earlier or have a morning routine, but you just can’t seem to do it or make it a habit? Every time you try, you end up feeling exhausted and drained, so you hit that snooze button again.

Well that’s an implicit memory problem. So, by using tools to actually rewire your implicit, you’ll find that with a little time you’re able to stick to the habit and even actively enjoy it.

How the Law of Attraction Affects Your Life

The mind, body and spirit connection means that your overall well being comes from not just your physical health but from your mental health and spiritual health as well. By nurturing and feeding your spirit, you can look inwards, be present and be aware of you really are, whatever that means to you. You may have heard of the law of attraction or law of vibration but, how does it affect your life?

To understand how the law of attraction plays a role in your life, first, you need to be fully aware of what it entails. Put simply, the law of attraction is about the ability to attract into your life whatever it is you’re focusing on. It’s one of life’s biggest mysteries and whether you’re doing it with or without thinking, you’re a human magnet sending out thoughts and emotions, attracting what it is you put out. By understanding your energy and vibration and how it affects your health, you can shift to a new of thinking and attract the right energy into your own life.

How the Law of Attraction Works: Understanding Energy and Vibration

Now this isn’t to say that just by saying things you will automatically begin to attract them. I’m not saying that by saying to yourself, “I’m wealthy and a millionaire” that you will magically become a millionaire. This is not a bunch of hooey dooey nonsense – even though for the longest time I thought it was. That’s not how the law of attraction works at all.

Instead, when you actively work to change the way you think, these thoughts will become your beliefs. Then your vibration and inner energy will change because of your newfound beliefs. You’ll probably find that you feel like you actually have the confidence to go after the goals you desire and take the action necessary to achieve those goals. In turn, your reality will shift, and you may even start attracting what you want most in life.

Mindfulness, Breathwork and Living in the Moment

Another way to nourish your spirit is to practice mindfulness. By living in the moment, you can focus on the present and may even become happier. A major study into mental well being from Harvard University found that people are happiest when they are doing something and paying attention to the present. The study collected information on daily activities, thoughts, and feelings from over 2,250 volunteers. They found that people were least happy when they were daydreaming or ruminating.

A couple of tools to help you stay present and live in the moment are breathwork and mindfulness meditation. Meditation has been scientifically proven to change your physical and mental well being. A daily practice could help to reduce stress, promote sleep and help you stay present. One study found that participants who meditated over an eight-week period had a meaningful decrease in their blood pressure. Meditation can have a strong effect on the mind, body and spirit and shows how powerful that connection can be for your health.

As well as mindfulness, deep breathing or belly breathing can also benefit your health in numerous ways. A regular deep breathing practice can help to lower stress and anxiety levels, increase mental clarity and give you a higher sense of physical and emotional awareness.

By understanding the different elements involved in your overall well being and health, you can see how your body, mind, and spirit are interconnected. Although kinesiology, epigenetics and the law of attraction appear to work independently, they can all play a role in your health and keeping your energy and body balanced. Implementing all three into your life is where you’ll feel the healthiest and happiest you’ve ever been.
