A striking ruby-red infusion crafted for calm focus.
This refreshing cold brew brings together an unexpected trio of flavors: the vibrant tartness of hibiscus, the earthy depth of yerba mate, and the smooth green character of matcha.
Hibiscus lends the infusion its striking ruby color and a naturally tangy, floral, and almost fruity flavor. Often used in refreshing drinks across warm climates, it gives the beverage a lively, thirst-quenching character.
Paired with it is yerba mate, a beloved South American herb traditionally enjoyed for both its flavor and its energizing qualities. Yerba mate brings a soft, herbal complexity and a cultural connection to centuries of shared tea rituals.
One of the most appealing qualities of yerba mate is the way it delivers energy. Unlike the sharp spike sometimes associated with coffee, yerba mate provides a gentler caffeine lift that many people find smoother and more sustained—offering focus without the jittery feeling or sudden energy crash.
Lastly, matcha adds a subtle green tea note that rounds out the infusion and enhances its body.
Cold-brewed slowly in the refrigerator, this infusion allows all three ingredients to meld together into a refreshing drink that is colorful, aromatic, and naturally invigorating. It is a simple but distinctive combination—one that brings together tropical brightness and South American tradition in a single glass.
Ingredients
-
3 hibiscus tea bags
-
2 tablespoons Yerba Mate + Matcha Superblend - Unflavored
-
1 liter warm water
-
2 tablespoons honey
-
5 mint leaves
-
2 slices lemon
Instructions
-
Place the hibiscus tea bags in a large glass jar or pitcher. Add the Yerba Mate + Matcha Superblend powder along with mint tea leaves and a slice of lemon.
-
Pour in the warm water and gently stir or swirl the mixture to help disperse the Yerba Mate + Matcha Superblend powder. (It does not need to dissolve completely at this stage, as the drink will be filtered after brewing.)
-
Cover the container and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the infusion to steep slowly for 8-12 hours.
-
After the brewing time is complete, remove the hibiscus tea bags and lightly squeeze them to extract the remaining liquid.
-
Strain the infusion through a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or a coffee filter to remove sediments from Yerba Mate + Matcha Superblend. (This step is important in creating a smooth drink and eliminating the chalky texture innate to yerba and matcha powders.)
-
Stir in honey to taste. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
