Raw Vegan Coconut Yogurt

Being vegan doesn’t mean missing your favorite yogurt. With a little coconut and this recipe, you’re back in business!

Missing out on your favorite creamy yogurt? Yogurt made out of dairy is filled with at least 12–25g of sugar per serving and they are also packed with artificial color and fruit flavors. Consuming these kinds of ingredients on a daily basis or even weekly basis does your body no good. High amounts of sugar and artificial colorings have been proven to be leading causes for mood swings, depression, anxiety, and even generating cancer cells.

Creating your own homemade yogurt made of 100% natural ingredients, dairy free, color free and sugar free is the best way to go. And absolutely tastes better than the usual yogurt.


Raw Vegan Coconut Yogurt

  • 3–4 young coconuts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 probiotic capsules or 1 tablespoon probiotic powder
  • ¾ cup dairy-free milk or coconut water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean (optional)


  1. Cut the coconuts and scoop out the coconut meat. Rinse them well and strain the water, until all the small particles are clear
  2. Using a high speed blender, blend the coconut meat with coconut water or dairy-free milk until smooth and creamy
  3. Empty the probiotic capsule into the mix and give it a quick pulse
  4. Transfer the content into a glass jar and cover the top with a cheese cloth or a thin cloth that is breathable. Leave the container in a warm dark place for about a day or two.
  5. You can taste the yogurt and see if it’s fermented enough according to your taste (if it’s your enough or not).
  6. Close the jar with an air-tight lid and store it in the refrigerator. Lasts for about 1–2 weeks in the fridge.


You can use vanilla bean or lavender for giving it a unique flavor

If your kids hate eating fruits, you can hide some inside the yogurt by adding a few blueberries and orange zest to give it a bit more vitamin C
