Smoothie bowls are the perfect way to start the day, have as a delicious snack, or enjoy as a wonderful dessert. Green smoothies are a perfect way to amass all of the nutrients that may be missing from your day to day repertoire. You can add any fruits or vegetables that you like and blend it up! This smoothie bowl uses coconut water, matcha powder, greens, and pumpkin seeds, which all have their own special properties and health benefits. Smoothie bowls are naturally sweet and filling. At this time of year, we tend to be more active either taking part in activities outside, walking, or swimming. This smoothie bowl will keep you hydrated, replenished, and will add a large amount of plant-based protein, which will help your muscles recover from any type of workout.
Matcha or green tea powder is one of the richest foods in antioxidants. Antioxidants can kill free radial cells in the body which have been linked to cancer. They are our first line of defense in the body or, as I like to call them, my internal soldiers. Matcha can boost our energy levels and endurance while boosting our memory. We added a scoop of Sunwarrior protein to give our smoothie bowl a burst of protein.
This smoothie bowl has coconut water to keep you refreshed the entire day. Coconut water has a large amount of natural electrolytes and mineral rich fluids which replenishes you after a long workout or prior to a workout. Coconut water also aids in indigestion and stomach aches. We added avocado to incorporate healthy fats and potassium. Avocados contain more potassium than a banana! Potassium can help reduce cramps in the body after a workout. Potassium helps regulate fluid glance and activity of the heart in the body. Lastly we added a protein powerhouse: pumpkin seeds. These little guys are high in fiber, high in protein and minerals, and help reduce inflammation in the body.
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 can coconut water
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 scoop Sunwarrior natural protein
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tablespoon raw pumpkin seeds
Blend avocado, coconut water, matcha powder, protein powder, and banana in a high speed blender. Remove from blender and add pumpkin seeds
