Christmas Energy Protein Balls

It’s officially December, which means you need energy and good health to get through the season. That these vegan protein balls taste like Christmas is a bonus!

These energy balls are truly festive; they smell and taste of cinnamon, nutmeg, mulled wine, and dried fruit. And the best thing about them is that they are super healthy, vegan, and gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and high in protein. They are also super quick and easy to make. All you need is a few basic ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen and a good blender. These little balls are a must-try, and everyone in your family will love them!

Christmas Energy Protein Balls

Prep Time
Total Time

  • ¾ cup (or 6) Medjool dates, or other soft variety *
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • 10–12 pitted, soft prunes
  • 1 scoop Sunwarrior Classic Vanilla Protein
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, plus some extra for coating
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom
  • juice squeezed from a ½ lemon
  • * If your dates are soft and gooey, there is no need to soak them, but if they are a little hard, it might be a good idea to pour some boiling water over them and leave them soaking for five minutes and then drain them properly.

  1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor of the high-speed blender (must be high-speed!) and blend until chunky dough forms. This will take a good few minutes.
  2. On a small plate spread 1–2 tablespoons ground cinnamon. Using a tablespoon, take out small portions of the dough and roll round balls in your hands, then roll them in the prepared cinnamon until coated and put aside.
  3. You can store them in the fridge for up to a week or freeze them and simply take out 30 min before serving to defrost.
