Chili Lime Jackfruit Tacos

Taco Tuesday just got a makeover. Move over black bean tacos and say hello to jackfruit! Chili lime jackfruit tacos make a fiesta out of dinner time!

Jackfruit is the new plant-based meat that is taking the taco industry by storm. It is not processed faux meat. It is vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free. Even though it is a fruit, the neutral taste of jackfruit can be made sweet or savory with any dish. The meaty texture is what has plant-based taco lovers replacing beans with jackfruit. This delicious fruit is now a staple in my home.

Jackfruit is rich in vitamins, minerals, and lots of dietary fiber. It is also a viable source of minerals, such as iron, magnesium, and manganese as well. It’s also high in potassium, which helps muscle function, hydration, and to maintain healthy blood pressure.

Fun Facts about Jackfruit

Did you know a single jackfruit tree can produce up to 250 jackfruits that weight between 20–50 lbs. Ripe jackfruit is eaten as a fruit, but unripe jackfruit is prepared as a vegetable. Young jackfruit is used in stews or curries, boiled, and roasted.


Chili Lime Jackfruit Tacos

Ingredients for taco

  • Jackfruit (fresh, canned, or packaged)
  • Non-GMO organic corn tortillas
  • 2 avocados
  • Salsa
  • Cilantro

Chili lime marinade for jackfruit

  • ½ small onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili spice
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 2 limes juiced
  • 2 cloves garlic pressed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon coriander
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper


Make sure jackfruit is washed and cleaned. Then make chili lime marinade in a bowl. Put jackfruit in a bowl of marinade and mix thoroughly. Let it set in the fridge for 2 hours or more (can be made the night before). After jackfruit is marinated, pull out of the fridge. Pour out marinade sauce. Have a frying pan heated to medium. Put marinated jackfruit in frying and heat thoroughly. After heated, put jackfruit in taco and dress with avocado slices, salsa, and cilantro.
