Detox is not just for the body. It’s for your mind, your spirit and the spaces you live in! Cleanse your life today, and let us show you how!
Remove Processed Foods from Your Fridge and Pantry
Detoxing most often means getting rid of processed foods –even the healthy ones! We don’t always realize all the ingredients that go into certain processed foods and once you eliminate them, you’ll think of more creative ways to make those foods you crave from scratch. Want potato chips? Bake some potato wedges! Craving a salty snack? How about roasted cauliflower! Really craving pasta? Hello, zucchini noodles anyone? There are so many whole food alternatives to the processed foods we tend to eat. Put it this way, if you didn’t make it, then don’t eat it!
Get Rid of Harsh Chemicals
Think about this – you finish cooking and then clean your whole kitchen with bleach or some cleaner you just bought on sale at your grocery store. These cleaners contain chemicals that are now lingering on your counters that can then contaminate your food the next day when you prepare your meals! Try using a vinegar and water tonic with a couple drops of lemon essential oil. Not only will your cleaner be all natural, but you’ll rest assured knowing that harsh chemicals aren’t contaminating your food. However, don’t stop in the kitchen. Look through your make up products and switch make up remover for coconut oil, opt for all-natural soap instead of bottled body wash, and even take a close look at your toothpaste!
Drink a Fresh Pressed Juice
Have you ever noticed that we are ALWAYS eating? Wake up, eat breakfast. Go to work, eat lunch. Come home, eat dinner. We never seem to give our system a break. Try grabbing a fresh pressed juice for breakfast instead of that bagel and feed your body on a cellular level! Juice is a great way to get nutrients right into the bloodstream and deliver some feel-good vitamins to your body. Not to mention, it’s a super easy way to get copious amounts of vegetables into your diet without even trying.
Eliminate Caffeine
For most, coffee is just about the routine whether it’s a fresh cup in the morning or a social gathering with friends. However, there are many alternatives that can keep you just as energized without giving your body an unnecessary dose (or multiple doses) of caffeine. Try a matcha green tea latte with almond milk to get you started. Not only do they taste delicious, but they also take pretty Instagram pictures. Need a pick me up in the afternoon? Add a scoop of maca powder to your smoothie. Most importantly, eat a lot of whole fruits and vegetables to keep you feeling light and energized.
Drink a Gallon of Water
Water is the best way to keep our bodies hydrated and keep cravings at bay! Our bodies are mostly made up of water so why not give it what it’s most used to? If you’re not into plain water, try adding some fresh fruit or lemon to give it a little flavor, or place a tea bag in your water bottle on your way to work. Whatever you need to do to drink water, you do that! If you’re trying to keep track of how much you’re drinking, buy a half-gallon water bottle to make it easier to count cups.
Get Sweaty!
Sweating is a great way for your body to get rid of unwanted toxins. You might think the only way to get sweaty is to go to the gym, but even sitting in a hot sauna can help you sweat more than you think by opening up your pores! Want a hot workout? Try a free membership at a hot yoga studio to get in a workout while working up a sweat. Even going for a power walk, bike ride, or out dancing can help you sweat out toxins.
Add Fermented Foods to Your Meal
Think sauerkraut, kimchi, and kombucha! Flavors that may have disgusted you as a kid are beneficial in aiding with detox. Fermented foods produce beneficial probiotics that help with digestion, gut health, and even boost your immune system. Don’t think that you need to spend your entire paycheck on these foods either. Fermented foods are easy to make at home, all you have to do is wait a couple of days, but once you get the process going, it’s easy to maintain!
Diffuse Some Essential Oils
There is nothing new about the power that essentials oils can have in affecting your mood, certain ailments, and even in cleaning! Diffusing oils can help to make your room feel fresh, and some blends even aid in purifying the air. Try some lavender if you’re feeling anxious or peppermint if you need a little pick me up. Skip the air spray and go all natural this time. Just a few drops go a long way.
