6 Superb Shaker Cup Drinks for Health and Happiness

In a hurry but want to stay healthy? Take your health to go in these 6 superb shaker cup drinks!

As a Sunwarrior fanatic and fitness enthusiast, I can often be seen (and heard!) leaving the gym, running errands or going on vacation with a shaker cup in tow. And while simply mixing Sunwarrior protein powder with a little almond milk, water or coconut water is a brilliant (and delicious) shaker-cup-drink, I'm about to offer you 6 other superb sips that can be shaken, not stirred. (In your shaker cup. Ok, you get it.):

1.) A makeshift green juice.

By mixing up a packet or scoop of Sunwarrior Super Greens powder with 8–10 ounces of coconut water or water water, you can have yourself a juicier-and-pulp-free green juice in just a few good shakes.

2.) A healthy cocktail.

Totally the opposite of a green juice, do not disregard your beloved shaker cup's ability to whip you up a little healthy cocktail. I mean, the shaker cup comes with measurements so you can portion out the perfect shot amounts! For one drink, pour in around 1.5 ounces of your vodka or tequila (the lighter spirits are the least caloric and blood-sugar-havoc-wreckers) and shake in about 6 ounces of your healthy mixer. My personal favorites are kombucha (in which case you have to be gentle with the shaking as it will fizz up!) and coconut water. Sprinkle in a few dashes of stevia for a plant-based touch of sweetness plus a couple of ice cubes and you've got a refreshing and more importantly - HEALTHY - cocktail!

3.) A delicious de-bloating pre-event drink.

This shaker cup drink is one of my pre-event slim down secrets because it utilizes some of THE BEST superfunctionfoods (you know – superfoods that help you function the best) around.

It’s got: chia seeds which help de-bloat you by hydrating your cells, coconut water which is really high in potassium and is also very hydrating, matcha powder which is a highly concentrated form of green tea, giving you a big boost in energy BUT without any jitters, protein powder, great for making you feel full and strong and cinnamon which is great for balancing your blood sugar and pleasing your taste buds. You couldn’t even draft a better dream team if you tried!

Just shake up:

  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon (or ½ teaspoon) matcha powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla Sunwarrior protein powder
  • Pinch stevia or coconut sugar (optional!)
  • 1 cup (ish) of coconut water

Give it a few good shakes and then put it in the fridge and let it sit for about 10–15 minutes so the chia seeds can swell up. Remove it from the fridge, give it a few more good shakes and then sip the bloat away!

4.) An AM metabolism revver-upper.

A morning routine MUST in my life is my AM metabolism revver-upper. Each ingredient in this drink is strategically shaken to give my digestion and fast-burning abilities a morning boost. I shake up:

  • 8–10 ounces of water (or coconut water)
  • 2 tablespoons RAW apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • As many sprinkles or drops of stevia as necessary for enjoyment

5.) Protein Coffee!

Why not kill two birds with one shake and use a little chilled coffee in your shaker up? A great AM drink or midday pick-me-up is made by mixing 1 cup of chilled/iced coffee with 1/2 cup of almond milk plus 1 scoop of chocolate Sunwarrior protein.

6.) Protein hot cocoa!

Believe it or not, you CAN make a hot cocoa drink that's high in protein! Might I even say you can have hot cocoa as your post workout?!

Just add 2 tablespoons of chocolate Sunwarrior protein powder to a shaker cup with 1 cup of almond milk. Add in a splash or two of agave or maple syrup and even a tiny bit of vanilla extract if desired. Shake it up and then pour it in a small saucepan on the stove and heat it up. Then pour it into your favorite mug and enjoy your protein hot cocoa.
