3 Super-Charged Recipes for Energy & Beauty

You are what you eat, and these three recipes for nut milks, pina colada smoothies, and Berry smoothies will charge your energy and beauty–inside and out.

We all have the desire for more energy, outer beauty, and a sense of inner radiance. If you have been involved in the natural health movement for some time, you may agree that outer beauty is the expression of inner beauty. This does not just mean our thoughts and emotions, although they are monumental catalysts. It also means the foods we put into our golden temple and how healthy our inner environment is on a daily basis. We want to create solid rituals in our lives that enhance beauty, expand creativity, and produce limitless energy. By rituals, I mean specifically food-based practices that act as powerful launching pads to our desired goals in life.

I want to invite you to implement new and exciting recipes into your daily routine. When we are inspired to create healthy choices we tend to reinforce those choices with consistent action. This is the key to long lasting health and enthusiasm.

Enjoy these three living plant-based recipes from my book The Inner Alchemy Youthening Program:

Creating Nut Milks

nut milk_almond_milk_picNut milks are dairy-free milks made entirely from nuts. You blend a handful of nuts with water and traditionally strain out the fibrous matter of the nuts to create a creamy milk-like liquid. Most nuts require a germination process known as soaking to activate their full nutrition spectrum and reduce their anti-nutrient compounds calls phytates or phytic acid. These are enzyme inhibitors that impair the digestion of fats and can cause irritation to the lining of the intestinal wall over time. The phytates can also bind to key minerals such as zinc and magnesium leading to mineral deficiencies. You will want to soak your nuts for a period of 8–12 hours, rinse out the old water, and strain them out once more to remove any bacteria residue left over. Nuts that do not require soaking are Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, pine nuts, pistachio nuts, and hemp seeds (not a nut). Nuts purchased in the bulk bin of health food stores should be rinsed prior to soaking to remove potential bacteria accumulated from the environment and travel exposure. Whenever possible, purchase vacuum-sealed packaged nuts or directly from your organic farmer at the farmer’s market.

Now that you know how to produce a nut milk, you will use an almond milk for this next recipe.
