When Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, a little vegan holiday hot chocolate will warm it up again. Keep this recipe handy for frightful weather.
Vegan Holiday Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 2 cups almond milk
- 3 tablespoons Sunwarrior Cocoa Powder
- 2-3 tablespoons coconut sugar (adjust to taste)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Sunwarrior Coconut Milk Powder
- Optional toppings: coconut whipped cream, chocolate shavings, cinnamon
Directions
In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder and coconut milk powder with a few tablespoons of the non-dairy milk to create a smooth paste. This helps prevent lumps in the hot chocolate.
In a small saucepan, heat the remaining non-dairy milk over medium heat until it starts to simmer but not boil. Make sure to stir so it doesn’t scorch.
Add the cocoa powder paste to the saucepan, whisking continuously to combine the cocoa with the milk.
Add the coconut sugar and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Continue to whisk until the hot chocolate is well combined and heated through.
Taste the hot chocolate and adjust the sweetness if needed.
Once the hot chocolate is heated to your liking, remove the saucepan from the heat.
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and garnish with your favorite toppings, such as coconut whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Cuddle up by a fire with a good book or a loved one (or both!) and enjoy!
