Armpits stink, but what’s in your deodorant might stink even worse. Some deodorants contain toxic chemicals that can damage your lymph nodes. Know what’s in your deodorant!
Conventional deodorants and antiperspirants are very toxic and contain a variety of chemicals and additives that have been linked to cell health and brain health, specifically cancer and Alzheimer’s. Every single thing you put on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream and circulated throughout your body, with positive or negative ramifications, just like food.
Your armpits have lymph nodes that help keep your immune system strong, so you want to make sure they are chemical-free to function at their best. Conventional deodorants and antiperspirants contain aluminum which is toxic to the body. There are also other endocrine disruptors present in conventional deodorants and antiperspirants (such as parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, formaldehyde) that can contribute to hormonal imbalances.
What are Lymph Nodes?
Your lymph nodes are small, round, or bean-shaped masses of tissue found throughout your body. They are part of your immune system—more specifically the lymphatic system—that helps your body fight infection and disease. As lymphatic fluid travels through the body, immune cells (called lymphocytes) in the lymph nodes trap bacteria, viruses, and other potentially harmful substances and destroy them to help prevent their spread. They also keep fluid balance in check.
You're probably already familiar with the lymph nodes in your neck, but there are hundreds of other lymph nodes scattered throughout your body:
- Behind the ears
- Under the jaw
- Lower part of the back of the head
If you are trying to heal from cancer or any disease, or simply trying to maintain a high level of health, I strongly encourage you to know what is in the deodorant you’re using. Pay special attention to the ingredients. Watch for ingredients such as aluminum, parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, and formaldehyde.
And there is always the choice to make your own deodorant to keep your immune system and lymphatic system strong. Especially important with the increasing rates of breast cancer and other diseases affected by hormonal imbalances. It also works amazingly in terms of smell and keeping sweat minimal. I prefer this recipe over any natural deodorant that I have ever bought because it is more effective and also cost-effective. It is so cheap to make!
