Symptoms of Parasite Infections & Natural Remedies

You’re never alone: parasites are always with you. Most are good, others —not so much. Learn symptoms of parasite infections & natural remedies!

Everyone has parasites, they’re impossible to get rid of – in fact, you wouldn’t want to get rid of them, and they’re essential for life. Parasites are the garbage men of nature: they clean up the waste. Without them, the garbage in our bodies, and in nature, would pile up continuously.

The problem with parasites comes when we have an overgrowth of them. This overgrowth is called a bacterial imbalance, which is an outnumbering of bad bacteria to good bacteria (probiotics). It's practically impossible to not come in contact with them, they’re everywhere: doorknobs, keyboards, restrooms, in water, on food, and in bedding and clothing.

Ideally, everyone would do a parasite cleanse once or twice a year just for maintenance. Even more ideal would be that everyone did their upmost to keep their immune systems strong and capable of dealing with any contact of viruses, bacteria, or parasites.

Symptoms of a Parasite Infection

Parasites are essentially what decay our bodies over time; they are behind the scenes of every disease and of aging itself. Therefore, any sign of early aging or disease is a sign there may be an imbalance of pathogenic microbes in the body.

However, there are some parasites that do more damage than others. Some of them can eat holes through organs and intestines causing gut-permeability or leaky gut. Others can eat at joint and brain tissues causing neurological issues like depression. Some symptoms of parasite infections are more obvious than others.

Here are a few to look for:

  • Chronic fatigue and lethargy
  • Depression
  • Brain fog or poor cognition
  • Strong cravings for greasy and sugary foods
  • Cravings for alcohol, bread, fruit, and other carb-rich foods
  • Insatiable appetite – eating more than normal but still feeling hungry

  • Persistent digestive problems such as gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Anemia or iron deficiency
  • Joint pain, muscle pain, and arthritis-like symptoms
  • Chronic pain in the back, shoulders, and thighs
  • Skin ailments such as hives, rashes, weeping eczema, itchy dermatitis, acne, ulcers, sores, lesions, inflammation, or swelling
  • Unexplainable allergic reactions: itchiness in ears, nose, and anus
  • Excessive number of bacterial or viral infections
  • Reoccurring candida yeast infection
  • Bleeding gums
  • Insomnia – waking during the night (particularly between 2 and 3 am)
  • Teeth grinding and drooling during sleep
  • Autoimmune disease
  • Food allergies or sensitivities
  • Environmental intolerance or over-sensitivity to smoke, chemicals, perfumes, etc.
  • Sexual dysfunction in men – menstrual cycle problems in women

It has been estimated that roughly 80% of Americans have parasites contracted from water, food, pets, or even the air we breathe. However, only 1 out of 10 cases of parasites are environmentally caused. The most common cause is internal from poor lifestyle choices; overly stressed lifestyles, poor diet, and eating habits amongst other things like having overly sterile environments and the continual consumption of antibiotics. Hence, there is major importance in having a natural detox program that can educate one on how to purify the body and strengthen the immune system.

Natural Remedies to Detoxify the Body of Parasites

There are many herbal remedies and lifestyle practices to detoxify the body of parasites. Below, I will share a few of the best parasite killing herbs and practices to rebalance the body’s microbial balance. However, keep in the mind the ultimate solution is having a strong immune system, which entails living an overall health-promoting lifestyle including emotional and mental health!

Lifestyle and Diet remedies:

Avoid meat and dairy: These are difficult to digest foods that can feed parasites. While detoxing you’ll essentially be consuming a vegan style diet. However, once you regain balance, you can return to eating animal products if they work well for your unique metabolism. However, be sure to choose very high-quality, pastured and organic animal products. Commercial animal products are by no means recommended for optimal health.

Go sugar free: Sugar is what parasites eat; it’s their number one fuel source. Ever notice that you rarely crave things like dandelion and parsley? Fiber is not a common craving; however, sugar is. That is because a lot of our cravings come from the bacteria and organisms in our guts. This is essential as a first step when detoxifying, the best way to get rid of the parasites is to simply stop feeding them and build immunity. Sugar is an immune suppressant. Then from there you can hit them with powerful parasite killing herbs.

Eat probiotic foods: Probiotics are the good bacteria in and on our bodies. When there is a parasite infection, there is essential an imbalance of good bacteria to bad bacteria. Probiotic foods are fermented foods like kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi. Get plenty of these into your diet and they will start to outnumber the bad bacteria in the body. They’re also very tasty!

Herbal Remedies:

Oil of Oregano: Oil of oregano is extracted from the leaves of the flowering wild oregano plants found in remote woods. This is an anti-parasitic herb. When ingested, it helps get rid of intestinal worms. Applied externally, it keeps away lice, bed bugs, mosquitoes, fleas, and more. You could use this oil up to three times a day. Add two to three drops to a glass of water with fresh lemon juice.

Clove: Cloves contain the most powerful germicidal agent in the herbal kingdom known as eugenol. It also contains caryophyllene, which is a powerful antimicrobial agent. They travel through the bloodstream, killing microscopic parasites and parasitic larvae and eggs. Cloves are tremendously effective in killing malaria, tuberculosis, cholera, scabies and other parasites, viruses, bacteria and fungi, including Candida. Cloves also destroy all species of Shigella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus.

Garlic: Garlic is a traditional medicinal food that has been used for a very long time. It doesn’t really repel vampires, but it is able to slow and kill over 60 types of fungus and 20 types of bacteria, as well as some of the most potent viruses. Garlic has a history of killing parasites and controlling secondary fungal infections, detoxifying while gently stimulating elimination, and has antioxidant properties to protect against oxidation caused by parasite toxins. The active components in garlic that kill parasites are Allicin and Ajoene. These compounds can kill ameba’s including one-cell varieties, as well as pinworms and hookworms. Allicin is not present in garlic in its natural state. When garlic is chopped or otherwise damaged, the enzyme alliinase acts on the chemical alliin converting it into allicin, the active component contributing for its success for killing parasites. Use crushed or juiced garlic for the best affect.

Extra virgin Coconut Oil: The medium chain triglycerides found in coconuts help boost the immune system, which helps fight against all types of parasites. It’s also a strong anti-fungal and can be used topically. Consume roughly 6 tablespoons a day for parasite detoxification and optimal health. If you have trouble digesting fat you can take pancreatic enzymes or get a MCT oil, which is an extract of coconut oil. Coconut oil on its own is easy to digest, but pure MCT oil is even easier.

Pumpkin Seeds: Yes, pumpkin seeds are great for parasites! They can kill eggs and contain a natural fat that is toxic to parasite eggs. Curcurbitin in pumpkin seeds has shown anti-parasitic activity since it has the ability to paralyze worms so they drop off the intestinal walls. Chinese scientists used pumpkin seeds to treat acute schistosomiasis and tapeworm infestations. Many parasite formulas contain pumpkin seed, but it doesn’t do much in just a few capsules. You need half a cup at a time to really work. Grind in coffee grinder and add to salads, smoothies.

These are just a few natural remedies, keep in many there are many, many others including turmeric, black walnut, neem, propolis, and Oregon grape.

Experiencing cravings: You might have nutritional deficiencies!
