It’s snack time! At least it is in Marzia Prince’s fun, four-part series about the way she regularly eats.
That’s right, you get an inside look at how your fitness expert and Heathinista puts together her meals, snacks, and supplement lineup. Snacks are a big part of staying healthy. What does Marzia grab between meals when she’s feeling snacky? Let’s find out.
Her main go-to for her sweet tooth is fruit, whole fruit. Whole fruit is a great snack or even dessert option. Fruits contain some sugar, but this is balanced out with water, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Most fruits and berries are very low in calories and on the glycemic index, meaning they don’t spike your blood sugar as much as you might think. On the go? Grab a travel-friendly fruit like a banana, apple, orange, or pear. Toss it in a purse or backpack and enjoy it when you need it.When Marzia is feeling more of a savory craving, she’ll go for hummus and veggies. She gets much the same benefits from this as the fruit, like hydration, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and a burst of energy. Go organic and eat as much of the fruits and veggies as you crave. It helps you not overeat later. Nuts and seeds can be another savory snack, but Marzia doesn’t use them a ton as they tend to be high in calories due to those healthy fats. Use them wisely.Veggie sushi is what grabs her attention when she’s out and near a Whole Foods. These bite-sized snacks are deliciously healthy and fun. Dip it in hummus and you feel like you’re eating something snack-worthy, but it’s almost the same as the fresh veggie slices she mentioned above. Grab portion controlled hummus too to keep you from overdoing it.Candy cravings are easily filled with dehydrated fruit slices, like mango. These remove the water and concentrate the sugars, so don’t go crazy, but they are a healthier option when your sweet tooth starts demanding more. Many bars can fill the sweetness void too. Marzia likes Kutoa, Gather, and other organic, plant-based bars.
