DIY All Natural Vegetable Spray Wash

DIY chemical-free! This all-natural home spray will keep your veggies clean and healthy!

This all natural vegetable spray is easy and fun to make. Using it makes you feel good knowing you can minimize your exposure to chemicals in your food and also in your environment while saving a few bucks every month. Try it out! It will literally take you seconds to make once you get everything you need together.

Buying organic is always best for reduction of ingested chemicals, herbicides, and pesticides. (Not to mention Organic is better for your body AND the environment.)

In the event organic cannot be purchased, make sure to wash and even peel the outer skin of your fruits or veggies when you can. Veggie washes can get expensive so why not make your own wash to save money? Let us teach you how!

Equipment:

1 BPA free spray bottle (You can buy these at the Dollar Store, or re-use an empty spray bottle) or a glass mason jar if you prefer to use the solution to soak your veggies rather than spray and scrub them.

You Will Need:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup organic apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup baking soda

Directions:

  1. Spray then wash and scrub. If you have time, let your veggies soak in this solution for 10–20 minutes for best and easiest removal.
  2. Store under the sink or in a cupboard away from sunlight.

Did You Know?

The dirty dozen and the clean 15 refer to the fruits and vegetables that are the most and least contaminated by pesticide use, according to the Environmental Working Group. Get organic when you can of course, but if you can’t, don’t avoid your fresh fruits and veggies all together. (Just use your homemade fruit and veggie spray!) Fresh food is always a better, more sustainable choice over processed, “dead” foods.
