strawberry_smoothie_brazil_nuts_pink_straw_picBrazil nuts are packed with vitamin E, magnesium, selenium, fiber, protein, and rich antioxidants. They also have a very soothing smell, one similar to camphor. The high selenium content of Brazil nuts protects the body from free radicals, preventing oxidation and aging. Mixing these with strawberries, which are high in vitamin C, helps boost your immune system and adds the perfect amount of citric acid to break through some good fat from the nuts. Brazil nuts are high in antioxidants and fiber and are absolutely delicious.

After the amazing Brazilian and strawberry combination, we top up the recipe with some coconut. Coconut oil is an amazing superfood, is packed with good, saturated fat, helps clean your colon, and adds moisture to your skin and hair. It’s also great to keep your joints lubricated and get things flowing. The coconut water base keeps you hydrated, replenishes your body with quick natural electrolytes, and is packed with good potassium and magnesium. If you’d like to add more fiber and protein to your drink, you can also add flaxseeds that are high in omega fatty acids, protein, and fiber.

Brazilian Power Strawberry Smoothie

Serving size: 1 // Prep time: 6 hours // Make time: 2 minutes

What do you need?

  • 1/2 cup Brazil nuts, soaked
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, diced
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch Himalayan sea salt
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal

What do you do?

Soak the Brazil nuts for 4 to 6 hours. Rinse well.

Add the Brazil nuts and coconut water to a high-speed blender and blend lightly, then add the strawberries, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and sea salt and blend until smooth. Keeping the blender at a low speed, slowly add the flaxseed meal (this is done in the end to avoid early thickening). Blend until smooth and serve. You’ll enjoy this Brazil nut strawberry smoothie!

Variations

Top with cacao nibs and coconut flakes to add a bit of crunch.
