5 Ways to Beat Workday Burnout
April 19, 2022Picture this: you’ve been working all day with little to no breaks and have already had three cups of coffee. It’s now 3 PM, and you’ve hit a wall. Does this sound familiar? You’re not alone. It happens to the best of us. Luckily, there are some tried and true, natural habits that can help you avoid workday burnout, enhance your cognitive function and become more productive in your daily routine!
1. Catch Your Z’s
Research1 shows that adults should get at least seven hours of sleep per night for optimal health. The quality of your sleep is just as important as the quantity, so it’s important to make sure your environment will be free of interruptions once you start snoozing! Turning off TVs, lights and phones and introducing white noise to your bedroom could help you reach a deeper, more peaceful sleep. During deep sleep, our bodies repair themselves, our immunity is boosted and we build energy for the next day.
And if you’ve missed some hours of sleep on previous nights, you’ll need to catch up! Try going to bed earlier to help your body get caught up on sleep. Set a bedtime for yourself, along with a bedtime routine. Help your body relax about an hour before you hit the hay. Take a hot bath, have a cup of decaf tea, dim your bedroom lights, and spray your sheets with a lavender essential oil spray.
2. Get Up and Move
Sitting for a long period of time (more than an hour or so) can make anyone feel sluggish. The best way to combat the midday slump is to move. According to the time-tracking app Desktime, the most productive people work for 52 minutes, then take a break for 17 minutes. Get up and stretch, go for a walk outside, dance — whatever gets you up and out of your seat. It has been proven2 that even just 10 minutes of movement or an hour of exercise can improve your cognitive performance by 14%.
Still not motivated? Sunwarrior's Active Energy is a great way to give yourself that initial inspiration to work out. It contains vitamin B12, which helps give you that energy boost to start your workout, as well as Organic Peak02®, an organic-certified combination of six adaptogenic mushrooms that helps your muscles overcome physical and mental stress while exercising.
3. Eat Healthy & Stay Hydrated
Feeling sluggish? Beat the midday slump by eating a balanced, clean diet , rich in vitamins & nutrients rush. Try to avoid foods with too much sugar and empty calories and stay hydrated for an increase in natural energy.
When it comes to daily water intake, the general rule is to drink between half an ounce to an ounce of water for each pound you weigh. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink 75 to 150 ounces of water, or 9 to 18 cups of water per day. One way to help achieve your daily water intake is to take Sunwarrior’s Active Hydration , which contains ingredients like organic powdered coconut water and organic eldermune to help keep you hydrated and boost your immune system as well.
4. Choose Healthier Caffeinated Products
Too much caffeine can have a negative effect on your health, including an increased heart rate and anxiety. Coffee is a popular go-to for an afternoon pick-me-up; however, it’s easy to consume too much caffeine while drinking your favorite coffee beverage. Instead of coffee, try substituting with Sunwarrior's Active Energy, which has an optimal amount of organic caffeine. Derived from CoffeeBerry®, a coffee fruit sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms and green coffee beans, the caffeine found in Sunwarrior’s Active Energy is optimal for improved alertness, memory, mood, perception, and other cognitive abilities, without any of those other unwanted caffeine side effects.

5. Get Your Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3 Fatty Acids are nutrients you get from food or supplements that help build and maintain a healthy body. They are also an excellent source of energy and help keep your cells healthy and functioning efficiently, especially your cognitive abilities. Two crucial omega-3 fatty acids, DHA & EPA, are usually derived from fish. However, Sunwarrior's Omega-3 | Vegan DHA & EPA is a vegan supplement that goes directly to the source of the omega, as it is derived from the plants that the fish eat instead of the fish themselves.
Overall, following these five tips will not only help you beat your workday burnout, but should also help you to achieve optimal overall health. Let us know how they work for you!
