Sesame Miso Crusted Tempeh
June 12, 2017Get to know tempeh and find yourself one of the best food friends you’ll ever have especially when you bite into this sesame miso crusted tempeh!
Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian food made by splitting, cooking, and fermenting soybeans. It looks like textured tofu but is more versatile than tofu. Tempeh’s hearty texture holds bold flavors and lends itself to veggie burgers, kabobs, salads, and stir fries.
As an energy building food, tempeh also contains protein and omega 3 fatty acids. The most unique feature is that it’s held together by enzymes that make it easy to digest because of its probiotic properties. Tempeh also gives your body much-needed B vitamins. You’ll likely find tempeh in the frozen or refrigerated section of most grocery stores. It often comes in different flavors with different herbs, seeds, or grains added. I prefer to have it plain.
I recommend buying only one to three packs at a time to keep it fresh. It’s best stored in your freezer.
