May 04, 2016Enjoy the warm weather with this cool, creamy good eating recipe! It's Peach nana-cream. Think ice cream, only healthier!
Ice cream, move over. The new and improved sweet and delightful treat has taken oven. Nana-ice cream, the ultimate no-guilt comfort food that will leave you satisfied and wanting seconds. This simple recipe is made with only a handful of ingredients. The base of this recipe is frozen bananas. When you blend them with a little water or nut milk, it creates a beautiful ice-cream-like texture. The best part is that it’s 100 percent natural, raw, vegan, and gluten free.
There are so many people who suffer from lactose intolerance, inability to consume sugar, or who are vegan. Since this recipe only uses frozen fruits, it’s the perfect recipe for anyone. This is a great idea to serve the kids to replace high fat and high sugar ice creams. A typical ice cream serving (which is usually ½–¾ cup) comes in a whopping 200 plus calories and more than 20–25 grams of sugar. A nana-cream has only 60 calories per serving and less than 10 grams of natural sugars.
Since spring is here, I used peaches in my recipe. You can go bananas (no pun intended) and add whichever flavors you desire. Here are some variations:
Chocolate peanut butter: 1.5 cup frozen banana, 1/3 cup almond milk, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, and 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
Strawberries and crème: 2 cups frozen strawberries with ½ cup coconut milk
Mint chocolate: 2 cup frozen bananas, ½ cup almond milk, 1 tablespoon raw cocoa, 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, 1 teaspoon spirulina. Blend frozen bananas with almond milk and remove from blender. Add 1 tablespoon raw cacao to one bowl and 1 tablespoon of mint and spirulina to the other. Mix separately and then combine.
Enjoy this spring and this rocking recipe for banana ice cream!
