My Journey with Sunwarrior's Activated Barley

by Kristján Miles

The largest hurdle people face while starting a weight loss nutrition plan is there are way too many weight loss options. It’s hard to sift through the garbage to get to the core nutritional component of FOOD. Most people don’t have the drive or the desire to put in the time and do the research required to make a strong front in our battle against the growing obesity epidemic.

They would rather try to fix themselves without correct nutrition. They’ll use magic pills and elixirs which allow them an illusion of fullness. This lasts long enough to starve and weigh themselves, believing that “WOW it works!” and then blame it on themselves, not the system, when they do eat and gain everything back. I tell every person I work with that dieting is just like holding your breath; some people are really good at it. Some people can hold it for an extremely long period of time, but eventually, like everyone else, they have to come up for air, and therein begins the yo-yo effect of dieting.

When I started my journey, 155lbs ago, I decided to take a different approach. I took it back to the basics. I wanted to know what ancient foods had carried mankind to travel great distances and populate the world. Ancient foods, before the processing that is so common now, were pure, and the purest form is where they are at their absolute best and most nutritious.

That is when I came across Sunwarrior and Activated Barley. When you are living day to day on a calorie deficient diet, you need to make sure that your energy sources are pure and at their most beneficial to carry you throughout each day. That way you can get the full benefit of your food’s power without all the garbage attached to super processed, modified, “non-food edibles.”

I am a HUGE believer that breakfast IS HANDS DOWN THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY. I consume about 1/3 of my daily caloric intake in the first 2-3 hours of my day. It’s a whole lot easier to keep a fire going with a nice stock of wood than lighting a match and then searching for the wood to burn—that doesn’t make sense in ANY camp.

My biggest hurdle was finding the low glycemic carbs that would blend into my shakes (blending oats was the first attempt but I didn’t like the grittiness), be super nutritious, and still taste good. Barley was already at the top of my list for premier carbohydrates, and I still absolutely love simmered hulled barley, but now I can get it not only powdered but almost to the point of germination where everything that the grain is holding is ready to be released for a plant to grow.

Could it be true? Absolutely! My name is Kristjan, I have lost 155lbs and am still on my way down, with Sunwarrior Activated Barley right by my side.
