How to Increase Energy Levels Naturally
August 24, 2015Tired of feeling tired? You don’t have to suffer through it. Increase energy with these natural lifestyle tips!
Both rest and relaxation should be part of your day every day.
Here are some of my top tips to increase energy levels naturally:
Sleep like it’s your job!
Six to eight hours every night. It helps if you go to bed around the same time every night. This is why it is important to avoid using electronics one hour before sleep (the light stimulates brain activity) and to not eat (because of digestion) or drink anything too close to bedtime. You want your body and mind to be relaxed as much as possible when your head hits the pillow. Also, avoid sleeping with the television on. Use your sleep timer. Sleep is a time for peaceful quietness.
Eat a healthy breakfast
Your body is ready to eat after fasting all night and needs fuel to begin the day. Choose a breakfast that is unprocessed, comprised of real, whole foods. For example, eggs (if you’re a vegetarian), fruit, oatmeal, or a smoothie are all great, healthy options. Also, drink a large glass of freshly-squeezed lemon water. Your body is craving water after sleeping all night.
Stay hydrated
Women should be drinking at least 2.2 liters of water per day and men should be drinking at least three liters per day. Not enough water leaves you feeling hungry and groggy with low energy. Drink your water throughout the day (meaning don’t save it to the second half of the day). If you aren’t a fan of plain water, try adding lemon, cucumber, or mint for a delicious and refreshing flavor.
Eat a healthy lunch and dinner
Your body needs to eat all three meals per day to have sustained energy daily. Another reason it’s important not to skip meals is your body needs a certain amount of nutrients per day to be healthy and feel well. A little trick: thirsty? Drink something good for you. Hungry? Eat something good for you. Works every time!
Eat snacks (if applicable)
If you are hungry between meals, eat a healthy snack. Low energy levels are a result of hunger levels. Healthy snacks help you avoid making bad choices due to extreme hunger levels.
Think positive thoughts
Negative thoughts are draining and taxing on the body. A healthy body cannot sustain and thrive with an unhealthy mind. Live in a state of gratitude by being thankful for the body that does so much for you, the food you eat, etc.
Meditate
All you need is five minutes per day. Meditation can act like a reset button and get you back on the right path, mentally and physically.
Exercise
You always leave a workout with more energy than you started with. Plus, whoever regrets a workout? NO ONE!
Try implementing these tips and skip those energy drinks. You don’t need them! Eat well, live well, feel well!
