Fig Pudding: Bring it Out Here!
December 17, 2015We’ve heard clamors of song for it. And certain houseguests won’t leave until they get some. So here it is: the recipe for fig pudding. You’re welcome.
Figs are available almost all year around. These teardrop shaped fruits are known for the sweet, soft, chewy, and subtle flavor. Figs have an unpredictable character; their taste and texture all differs drastically depending on the fruit’s exposure, season, and general environment. These unpredictable mysterious fruits are well known for their health benefits; they are high in potassium, high in good carbs, and high in fiber. The best way to mask their unpredictability is by making dessert!
Cardamom Fig pudding
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup figs, ripened
- 2–3 dates
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon coconut butter
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Directions:
- Using a high speed blender, blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
- You can add crushed nuts or dry fruits as a topping.
- If you would like it feel more of an ice cream you can add some frozen bananas to the recipe.
Date Fig Bars
- ¾ cup dates
- ¾ cup figs
- 3 tablespoon coconut flakes
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean, extracted
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Directions:
- Using a food processor, blend all ingredients until smooth.
- Transfer the ingredients to a flat tray with a parchment paper
- Using a spatula make small squares and transfer it to the fridge
- After 45 minutes, you can remove the bars and transfer them to an airtight glass jar or store them in neat zip lock bags.
Simple Fig Jam
Ingredients:
- 1–2 cup figs, ripened
- 1–2 tablespoon maple syrup
- ½ cup water or rose water
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Directions:
- Using a high speed blender, blend all the ingredients until smooth
- Transfer the mixture to an airtight glass jar.
- Store it in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks.
You can use honey or stevia instead of maple syrup
You can also add some chia seeds to this mix.
