Why eat cacao?
Cacao powder and nibs are extremely nutritional and powerful ingredients and superfood staples in my kitchen. They are high in magnesium, antioxidants, iron, omega fatty acids, flavanols, and fiber. They are one of the most antioxidant rich foods on the planet! Cacao nibs are made from pure cacao beans that come straight out of the tropical cacao fruit. The Cacao bean was culinary gold to Mesoamericans for many years and known as the "Food of Gods" for its superior nutritional profile and amazing flavor. Cacao powder is a great alternative to cocoa baking powder, because it is raw and less processed than cocoa. It’s rich in minerals and antioxidants and great to add to smoothies, baking, and desserts.
I have so many superfoods in my cabinet and I just want to collect them all! Yes, it can be expensive to buy many of these superfood ingredients, but it’s well worth the cost, and I find that they last me a good amount of time. Buy online, use coupon and promo codes, or look for sales at the grocery store. Once you begin to start using these ingredients you'll realize the unlimited possibilities for including them in many of your recipes. You might even search for new recipes that include superfood ingredients.
How do you cook with superfoods?
I love experimenting with superfoods, and you can always use them in smoothies, oatmeal, baked goods, cereals, oat and nut bars, homemade breads, and much more.
What does cacao taste like?
Cacao nibs have a bitter flavor but add a nice chocolate chip crunch to your recipes, and you can also blend them in your smoothies so they aren't as crunchy. You can also buy sweetened cacao nibs if you prefer a bit of sweetness. They are nature’s chocolate chips, and when soaked in your smoothies or ice cream they soak up some of the liquid and become a little less crunchy.
What are the benefits of using a vegan protein powder?
All the protein, minerals, and nutrients are from plants and are easier for your body to recognize and break down. It’s also perfect for someone with a vegan or raw food diet. I prefer using the Sunwarrior protein powders because they are less processed and I recognize and can pronounce all of the ingredients. I like to use minimally processed ingredients with no chemical additives. Your body will be able to absorb the nutrients more efficiently without hurting your digestive system.
