These tahini chocolate chunk cookies are a dessert to go nuts over! Tahini offers a subtle nutty flavor but is a nut-free option to make dessert delicious!

When I first started living a plant-based lifestyle, I wasn’t really sure what to do with tahini. My only knowledge regarding tahini came from a tahini lemon salad dressing I had one time that somehow progressed into a tahini-maple dressing. I never really thought there was much to it until I decided that I wasn’t a big fan of peanut butter. It wasn’t anything bad about peanut butter; it was just too heavy sometimes! I couldn’t imagine eating another peanut butter cookie or even putting peanut butter on an apple. It was at this point when I started experimenting with tahini and adding it into baked goods. {3ast3r}  Man-oh-man was that an awesome idea, especially since it’s not every day that you see tahini being used in cookie recipes! Tahini is an awesome substitute that gives cookies a more subtle nutty taste while also being nut free! Not to mention when mixed with chocolate, it becomes irresistible. These cookies were gone in no time, and I plan to make more as soon as I can get to the store for more tahini!

Keep in mind that depending on which brand of tahini you use, the consistency will be thinner or thicker. The slightly thinner consistency might mean that you will need to add a little bit more flour (about 2 tablespoons) and potentially leave it in the fridge for a little bit longer to firm up. However, no matter what tahini you use, these cookies will be delicious.
