Magic of Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is a way to healthier skin, cleaner pores, and higher energy! Find out how and why!

“Exfoliating your skin” is a vague term for many. Does this mean I scrub every day? Does this mean I go to a Korean spa every week? How do I know my skin is getting exfoliated? Exfoliating simply means removing the dry skin from your top surface and allowing your body to generate new cells and better skin. When one doesn’t exfoliate, the skin becomes dry, flaky, or you may get a lot of whiteheads, blackheads, and a lot of ingrown hair. It doesn’t sound pretty. One of the most inexpensive and easy things to do is dry brushing.

What is Dry Brushing?

Dry brushing is the act of using a dry brush on your body before showering. You can buy a brush at any health store. There are small ones that can be used on your face and longer ones that can be used on the front and back of your body.

Reasons to Dry Brush

Better Skin

Dry brushing allows your body to get rid of dead cells, helps to irritate the ingrown hair which makes it fall out naturally or prevents the growth of ingrown hair by cleaning out your pores. Dry brushing also improves blood circulation and massages your outer skin gently, allowing your skin to have a natural glow and cleaner look

Lymphatic Massage

Your lymphatic system runs throughout your body. When people talk about blocked energy, body stiffness and poor breathing. A lymphatic cleanse can help cure all of these issues. Dry brushing, gets your lymphatic system moving as it is located right below your skin. A gentle massage of your skin along with dry brushing will help get rid of toxins and improve circulation in your lymph nodes.

Increased Energy

As the process of dry brushing gets rids of toxins, massages your lymph nodes and gets the blood flowing, the increase in blood circulation helps to increase your energy level and gets you feeling more alive and energized.

How to Dry Brush?

  1. The best time to dry brush is once you have evacuated your bowels and right before you are about to jump in the shower.
  2. Take the dry brush and move in a circular motion starting from your legs.
  3. Move upwards towards your heart and repeat in clock-wise and anti-clockwise motion
  4. Once done, you can use some light oil like jojoba or almond oil and massage your body and take a warm shower after.

If you do have a lot of ingrown hair, it’s best to wear loose cotton wear for a couple of weeks until your skin has healed.
