Healing Citrus Sunshine Sunwarrior Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 whole lemon without the skin (yes, the whole lemon!)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • ½ cup of fresh chopped cilantro (don’t knock it until you try it!)
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 serving Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup ice

Optional

  • Add 1 cup berries of choice

DIRECTIONS

Blend until divinely smooth and creamy. As you are blending, take five deep breaths, place your hand on your heart and repeat your affirmation. Deep breathing is the fastest way to alkalize the body and calm the mind. Smile, and tell yourself you love yourself. Keep practicing this every day until you believe it.

Gracious Living Smoothie Tip #1:

Use frozen bananas for creamier smoothies. Wait till the bananas are ripe, peel the skin off, break the bananas into pieces, and store in a Ziplock bag or glass container in the freezer for your smoothie use. You can also freeze apples (core and cut into chunks), pineapples, papayas, kiwis, oranges, peaches, grapes, watermelon, mangos, pears, etc. Cut everything yourself and then freeze them in portion sizes.

You can freeze your kale, spinach, and other dark green leafy vegetables. You can even freeze your herbs. Cilantro, basil, mint, and rosemary are my Gracious Living faves in smoothies (although you don’t need to freeze rosemary). Just peel them from the stem and store in a Ziplock bag. Use as needed.

You can freeze your lemons and limes. Peel them, cut into halves or quarters (depending on your blender’s ability to blend up big or small chunks), and put in your Ziplock bag. With organic lemons or limes only (otherwise there are chemicals all over the outside peel), I like to grate the lemon zest into my smoothies for an extra lemon taste that promotes healing. Believe it or not, there is extra nutrition in the peel!

You can even freeze your avocados! No need to waste avocados anymore that have gone from unripe to too ripe. Once soft and ready to eat, cut the avocado in half, take out the pit, spoon avocado out into individualized Ziplock bags, or in a container, and store in the freezer, Use as needed.

After the avocado is cut in half and pitted, use a spoon and go along the whole edge of the avocado to get the green meat out in a clean sweep, without a speck of avocado left behind.
