19 Ways to Reduce Wrinkles Naturally

19_ways_to_reduce_wrinkles_naturally_imageWe spend billions of dollars on beauty products to make us appear younger and stave off the dreaded wrinkles. Most don’t work nearly as well as we might wish, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t hope. We may not be able to completely turn back the clock or stop time, but we can slow the progress of wrinkles and take years off our faces with some simple, natural solutions.

  1. Limit Sun Exposure
tToo much sun is the number one cause of wrinkles. Don’t get me wrong. The sun is amazing, and you need doses of it each day to get vitamin D and to stave off depression, but take it easy. Get about 20 minutes each day and avoid the sun in the middle of the day as much as possible.

  2. Use Sunscreen
tIf you’re going to be out in the sun longer than a half hour, wear sunscreen. You don’t have to slather on the chemical laden stuff from the stores though. Check out our natural sunscreens and choose your favorites.

  3. Don’t Smoke
tSmoke dries out skin, leads to disease, and damages everything it touches. Stop now and save your face from being ravaged by time prematurely.

  4. Eat Well
tFruits and vegetables are your best friends if you don’t want wrinkles. They are filled both with antioxidants that protect skin from damage, and vitamins A and C which are crucial to keeping skin young and elastic. You really can’t expect to keep wrinkles at bay by any means if you do not take care of what you eat. All those creams and lotions will just be lost money without focusing on your diet.

  5. Sleep Enough
tSleep is when the body grows and repairs itself after the damage and work of the day. Do not underestimate the power of sleep on the way you look and feel. When you get enough sleep your body makes human growth hormone which grows new skin cells and keeps your skin young, thick, and elastic. When you don’t get enough, your body releases stress hormones that actually break down skin and create wrinkles. Sleeping on your back is also better for preventing wrinkles than on your side or stomach.

  6. Avoid Squinting
tWear your glasses. If you need glasses, get them. When outside during the day, wear sunglasses. Chronic movements of the face, like squinting, help cause and deepen wrinkles. Avoid frowning and worrying while you’re at it. Keep smiling though. Smiles and laughter may cause a few wrinkles, but they also improve the immune system and circulation so they balance things out.

tExercise improves circulation and the efficiency of your heart. Your skin cells are the furthest cells from the interior of your body and they need to be nourished with oxygen and vital nutrients. The better your heart works, the better your skin will look and feel.

  8. Don’t Wash
tCleanse instead. Your tap water and most soaps strip your skin of essential oils, leaving it dry, cracked, and susceptible to damage. Cleanse your skin with natural oils that clean, hydrate, and moisturize.

  9. Coconut Oil
tThis is one such natural oil that will clean skin without drying it out. Coconut oil takes off makeup, dirt, and grime while leaving your skin supple, smooth, and plump so wrinkles are less noticeable. Coconut oil is also antibacterial to keep pores clear. Use it internally too to keep skin healthy and for a boost of energy.

  10. Jojoba Oil
tThis oil mimics the natural oils of your skin, sebum, to clean, remove dead skin cells, and keep skin soft and young. It balances your skin’s natural oil production too.

  11. Olive Oil
tOlive oil has many of the same benefits of coconut oil, but is a little easier to find. It also fights inflammation that harms skin.

  12. Aloe
tAloe vera is commonly used to treat inflamed skin, but it is very good for wrinkles too. Aloe is a natural source of the alpha-hydroxy acids often found in skin care products to reduce wrinkles, age spots, and dry skin. Pure aloe hydrates and nourishes skin, eases inflammation, and provides antioxidants to protect against cellular aging. Use the fresh pulp from the leaves rather than the bottled stuff that contains alcohol and preservatives.

  13. lemon_juice_to_reduce_wrinkles_picLemon Juice
tLemon juice strips away dead skin cells, cleans, and provides vitamin C, an essential part of collagen production. Rub it into the face and then rinse with clean water. Avoid direct sun for a while after you use this tip though as it can lighten skin.

  14. Pineapple
tLike lemon, the enzymes in pineapple strip away dead skin and soften skin.

  15. Massage
Massage brings blood to the surface, stimulating circulation. Massage your face with a good oil, like coconut, rubbing into wrinkles to nourish the cells there.

  16. Drink Water
tYour skin relies on water and proper hydration as much as any other part of your body. Give it plenty of water to stay firm, elastic, and happy.

  17. Avoid Sugar
tProcessed and refined sugars cause glucose levels to spike and them plummet. This rise and fall causes oxidative damage and stress throughout the body, including the skin. You will have clearer, brighter, less wrinkled skin if you replace sweets with fresh fruits and vegetables instead.

  18. CoQ10
tThis enzyme and antioxidant helps protect the skin and heart from cellular damage done by free radicals. This damage contributes to aging, wrinkles, and less efficiency in circulation. It’s no wonder that it has started showing up in expensive creams lately. You can get it as a supplement where it will go to work from the inside out.

  19. Resveratrol
tResveratrol is another potent antioxidant from grapes that helps protect skin from cellular aging to keep away wrinkles. It can also be used internally and topically.
