Rosemary Lemonade
September 06, 2016There’s no denying that lemonade screams summer, and while we have those last few vestiges of summer weather, we might as well use it right with lemonade!
But let’s face it, the store-bought or kid-on-the-corner kind is laden with refined sugar. But what if we swapped honey for the sugar (or agave syrup for our vegan friends), used organic (of course) lemons, and added a little fresh rosemary—which pairs great with lemon—for flavor oomph? Well, by George, I think we’ve got something. (Let’s not kid ourselves, this is still a high-glycemic beverage. But dang, it does taste good!)
Remember, in addition to the alkalizing properties of lemon, you will benefit from the presence of rosemary, simply because:
It’s good for your head! Rosemary has been shown to increase the blood flow to the head and brain, helping to uplift mood, clear the mind and improve concentration.
It helps you stay well. Rosemary helps stimulate the immune system, increase circulation and improve digestion.
It’ll soothe you. Rosemary has anti-inflammatory compounds that may make it useful in helping with a variety of conditions. Do some research to find out more!
One last thing: fresh rosemary can be refrigerated in a plastic bag for several weeks—so buy a bunch of it!
