Chai, chai, chai. The word sounds delicious! And it really is. Chai (or tea) originated in India. It’s quite famous due to its smell, flavor, and texture. During monsoon seasons, chai is the perfect comfort drink to cuddle up with and wait out the weather. It’s also great during social gatherings, sitting in a courtyard laughing with friends, and spending time together. It works when quick energy is needed. And it’s no coincidence that a favorite order at Starbucks is chai tea latte! It’s all about chai!
I love my chai without traditional milk. I love its amazing spice combination and great health benefits. When mixed together, it creates an aroma that will linger even hours after you’ve had it.
Dramatic Indian spices combined with sweet cardamom and coconut milk reminds me of one of my favorite places: Bombay.
Let’s break down the benefits of chai spices:
Cinnamon is known to increase circulation and increase breathing capacity along with increasing awareness by reducing fatigue and dizziness. It’s also known to be a great aphrodisiac!
Cardamom , a popular spice well-known in India and China, is known to eliminate problems related to the liver and kidney. It also soothes the nervous system and elevates mood.
Clove , a native Indonesian spice, the clove has been known for its pain relieving and great antiseptic qualities. Clove is also used to synergistically increase the potency of other herbal blends.
Black Pepper is a great spice to improve circulation and wellness. It increases blood flow and boosts your metabolism.
Nutmeg has been used for ages to ease sciatica pain and aid digestion after consuming heavy food. Ancient Arab physicians have used this spice to treat kidney and lymph problems.
Ginger acts as a stimulant for the circulatory and immune systems. Ginger has been used to treat conditions such as impotence and motion sickness.
Bombay Chai Smoothie
What do you need?
- 1 cup distilled water
- 1 tablespoon black tea powder or Indian chai spices
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons coconut palm sugar
- 2 tablespoons hemp seeds, soaked
- 3 to 4 dates, pitted
What do you do?
- Combine the distilled water and black tea. Heat for three to four minutes, then set the mixture aside to cool until lukewarm.
- Add the tea and other ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
